Lowlights/ombre-ish

Hello fashion nation!

First of all, for those who don't know, I have a serious addiction to Pinterest.
So if you have an account, follow me [ here ]!

I saw this hairstyle on Pinterest when summer started. In that exact moment, I made the decision of trying this on my hair immediately! Actually, it wasn't until last weekend that I actually did something similar... myself. I guess that when it comes to hair, I'm a risk taker and even when I'm a little afraid of changes, hair makeovers are something that always excites me.

Remember when I did my ombre last year? [ Here ].
Well, this time I wanted to do blonder lowlights, with ombre at the ends. That's why I bought the L'ORÉAL Paris Féria Wild Ombre 080, instead of the one I did the last time: 060

I loved the result, but it's normal to have some damage in those bleached areas. I did the coconut oil treatment next day, soaking my hair with it and letting it work for 2-4 hours. If you wash your hair in the mornings, you can put on a shower cap and let sleep through the night for a better result. Here's my final look on Instagram:

My hair looks healthy and shiny now.
What's next? More low/highlights, even lighter.
I'll keep you posted!

Have a lovely weekend!
xx,
Teresa

Inspiration: Fall for New York

Fall for New York

So yeah, I'm gonna be in my favorite place in the world once again.  Going to New York next month!!!  I'll spend that weekend in the city, but I'll be visiting New Jersey to see a concert.  I prepared a fall combo I have in mind for that long day traveling in train and going back to the city late at night.

My inspiration is all about...

[ fall colors (neutrals) ]

[ cute, but comfortable wedge boots ]

[ tights instead of jeans, with some warm (wool) shorts ]

[ a coat that is actually warmer than the one featured here
(I just wanted to emphasize the color and shape) ]

[ a crossover bag with many pockets for all the things I will carry on that day ]

[ not-so-warm top, because is probably going to be hot inside the stadium ]

[ yellow scarf for the pop of color ]

Inspiration: Flower-Power Summer Nights

Flower-Power Summer Nights

Caribbean = HOT.
Summers are so hot here I just want to wear shorts, fresh tops and sheer stuff all the time.  How can I make casual clothes look stylish for nigh-time?  Can I wear shorts and fresh tops for a girl's night out or a date?  OF COURSE!  I'm going to take advantage of the flower-power trend to make my looks cuter.

Styling a pair of shorts:
High-waist flower shorts are boho and chic.  With a tiny belt and a pair of boots they'll pass as a short pencil skirt, only more comfortable.

Styling the fresh top:
A denim tie top, but making sure the denim material is not that rough or tight to the body.  The best ones are the lose denim look-a-likes tops made of cotton.

Styling hair:
Any of the hairstyles I featured on my recent post: Summer-ish Hairstyles or  pair the shorts with a delicate flower crown.

Finishing touch:
Nothing more glamorous than a golden watch next to a golden braided chain.  This is the summer sensation when it comes to accessories.  It'll automatically transform any casual look into a stylish combo.

Inspiration: Graduation Day

Inspiration: Graduation Day

There are a lot of prom posts out there, but people forget about how important it is the graduation outfit.  May & June: graduation months.  Mine is in June 15 and I already have in mind what I would like to wear.

Graduation outfit tips:

1. Wear a simple dress.
Most of the graduations take place in daytime, so the dress doesn't have to be that fancy.  Remember it will be under the graduation gown almost the whole time.

2. Comfortable shoes.
You'll be standing for a long time.  Light wedges are a good choice.

3. It's summer, wear something bright!
Graduations are in summer time, so bright colors like blue, coral or yellow will look great and will add a pop of color to the traditional/boring cap and gown.

4. Crossed small bag.
Crossed bags are comfortable and secure.
If you pick a small one, you can wear it under the gown.

5.  Accessories are the highlight.
Nothing else is gonna show as much as your accessories.  Pick your fave trend!

6. Lose hair.
The graduation cap will be your hair accessory, so leave it  lose and pack some hair clips in your bag in case you need them to make the cap stay in place.

6. Class of 2012 is officially graduated,
enjoy the after party with your cute outfit!

Inspiration: Belated Spring Break

Belated Spring Break

During Spring Break I was locked inside my room doing the last corrections to the thesis I handed out last week.  I'm finally done with my Master Degree and I'm celebrating it with a beach get-away this weekend.  Where?  Where else?  I live in the Caribbean!  I'm heading to the west coast of Puerto Rico and will be staying at Rincón.  I just hope it'll be sunny, cause the last weeks were so rainy and gray.  My plans?  To enjoy the beach and pool while being tropically stylish.  I'll be only wearing a turquoise nail polish, a bandeau bikini top, a colorful turban headband and some short jeans to cover up while I take a piña colada with good company.

Inspiration: Bright-Colored Jeans

Inspiration: Spring Jeans

Inspiration: Spring Jeans by trend-ish featuring denim skinny jeans

This weekend I got my new bright-colored pants for this Spring season: a pair of skinny turquoise jeans.  Thinking about how to combine them, what came to my mind was black and white (so me, right?).   We want the jeans to be the main focus, so what you need to do is keep it simple with a cropped white tee, a sober black bag and some ballerina flats.  As you can see in the combo I made above, this match will look good with any of the trendy colors of the season.  Of course, that is unless you want to color-block, which is not my favorite trend.

How would you combine
your bright-colored pants?

Inspiration: Valentine's Day Date

Whether your plans are to go have dinner with your boyfriend/fiance/husband, meet up at a lounge with a date or just hang around with your best friends, you have to look trendy and great for the special occasion:  Valentine's Day.  Even though I'm a Valentine's Day Grinch when it comes to teddy bears, excess of chocolate/candies and too cute pink/red stuff at the drugstores,  I like to go out with my boyfriend and have a nice date.  I actually don't know what I'll wear to go out that night, but I've prepared a possible outfit with my latest obsessions: high waist pants and aztec accessories.
What will you wear?
