Review: May Birchbox vs My Glam

Second and last battle.  Why?  Because I cancelled Birchbox.  Yeap, I did.  The last two boxes didn't impressed me that much and I prefer My Glam.  I also realized I was spending $20 each month for sample boxes = $240 per year = Michael Kors tote.  Ha!  Got me?  Here's the last battle and Is pretty obvious who won it...

[ What's the deal with the Birchbox Gossip Girl promo?  I bet that for those who like these series, the box was heaven-ish this month, but what does that have to do with the products inside?  I don't watch it, so I don't get it.  The My Glam make-up bag was cute. ]

 [ My eyes are the main focus when I put make-up on. Eye-liner and mascara are my favorite parts and I love to try new colors and shapes.  That's why I was more excited about the Birchbox highlight.  On the other hand, the My Glam Redwood lipstick is GORGEOUS  and good quality, so let's say this is a tie. See picture below of how they both look. ]

Birchbox vs My Glam

Let the battle begin!
Last month I received my first My Glam.  You know I'm receiving Birchbox since January, so I decided to start a monthly battle to know which one was better.  Are your ready?

Presentation:

[ Birchbox is more impressing and chic than My Glam ]

Saying HI cards:

 [ very similar, but it seems like that My Glam has a different theme for each package and I really like that. ]

Highlights:

 [ I prefer eye make-up than lipstick, so this is a plus for My Glam.  I also gotta say this is a really good liner, since is pitch black and lasts all day! ]

 

Inside the boxes:

 [ One of the things I don't like about Birchbox is that they send lots of perfume samples.  I don't use perfume, so these are useless for me.  I still haven't use the MicrodermaMit, but will this weekend ]

[ The theme for My Glam this month was "Girl Night Out".  Eye-lashes, eye-brushes, eye-liner and pretty lips.  I loved everything and I'm actually using everything, except for the eye-lashes, which I'm saving for a special occasion. ]

My March Birchbox

THIS is the box.  Completely worth the $10.  Very appropriate for my birthday month.  

This box was filled with cute/useful/good size products.   My box highlights were the nail polish and the green teas.  I've been wanting to start a green tea habit for a long time now and finally I had the opportunity "for free".  Even though I have a very similar nail polish color from Essie [ see here ], I wanted to try this Color Club brand.  The hair powder works as a dry shampoo, but it isn't as good as the spray ones like Klorane and Pssssst!  I'm waiting to have a good night out to use the eye shadows and also waiting for the little Spring vacation on April to use the nail polish.  About the face wash, it works great but it smells kinda bleh.

My February Birchbox

January's Birchbox brought bigger samples and all of them were so great.  This month's box didn't surprised me at all.  I'm not even going to use some of the stuff and the sizes are microscopic.  That's really all I got to say this time.  I'm sharing a little review from each product.

1. beauty blender®

[ i don't even use foundation, so this is useless for me ]

2. Jouer Luminizing Moisture Tint

[ good moisture, poor coverage... one use only ]

3. Orofluido Elixir

[ best product in this box, glowing hair after use ]

4. Violent Lips Glitter Lip Tattoo

[ not really sure it'll work, but this is so interesting... can't wait to try ]

Every girl deserves to be surprised: My first Birchbox

  I recently subscribed to Birchbox thanks to Popcorn, Pugs & Peonies.  She introduced me to this page through this blog post and I could'nt resist it, so I went for it that same day.  For $10 a month I will receive a surprise box with 4-5 beauty product samples, shipping free!  You just have to fill a questionnaire so they can personalize each box to your preferences.  I received my first box last weekend and I subscribed on January 3rd... SO QUICK!

And you may say... I don't need this!  What a waste of money!  Well, I thought the same, but when I received my first box and looked at myself in the mirror I was so damn excited.  Us girls, we love surprises and this, my dear, is a monthly surprise guarantied.

1) Juicy Couture Perfume: I'm not a fan of perfumes, I prefer body mists.

2) Zoya Nail Polish: I wanted to try this brand so bad!

3) Jouer Moisturizing Lip Gloss: Love the color.

4) VMV Hallucinogenics Re-Everything Eye Serum: So interesting!

5) Larabar Brownie: Yummy and healthy.

As you can see I'm pretty happy with everything, except the perfume.  
I can't wait to show you more in the next months, stay tuned!
