2012 MTV Movie Awards: Peplums & Fun Prints

I'm a loyal spectator of the MTV Awards, both movies and music.  I got really excited when they announce the date.  I like their ceremonies because they are more casual & fun than others.  The same happens with their red carpets.  Celebrities don't show up with super-expensive gowns and we can see a little more about their personal taste.  This year, the strong trends were peplum and rare prints/textures.  Here's a recap of my favorites!

1. Jessica Biel
Even though I don't love the sleeves, the hair, the dress color and shoes are adorable!

 2. Charlize Theron
Gorgeous in red peplum!

 3. Elizabeth Banks
She looked so different and daring.  I'm a big fan of red carpet risks.

4. Julianne Hough
This peplum dress is so distinct from the ones you see at stores.

 5. Emma Watson
She looked young, fresh and comfortable in her printed dress.

 6. Emma Stone
This time she didn't impressed me at all, but OMG... look at those shoes!!!

 7. Mila Kunis
I think this dress is screaming out lout: summer-night-out!

And now... some eye-candy for the girls!

[ Chris Hemsworth... Do I need to say anything? ]

Oscars 2012: Architectural & Assymetric

The 84th Academy Awards (Oscars 2012) were celebrated last Sunday at Hollywood.  Many movie stars arrived at the red carpet showing their "who are you wearing" (as usual) and looking stunning (most of them).  The trends were architectural/asymmetric pieces with classy shapes and lots of ruffles.  The most seen colors were neutrals, red and black.

I couldn't decide who my favorites were, I liked so many of them.  That's why there's really no order of favorites in the ones I'm going to discuss below.  They're just my favorites... all of them.

[ Angelina Jolie wearing Versace ]
I'm not a big fan of her serious style, but this was a 10+!
She looks younger and fresh with loose hair and a pretty smile.

[ Michelle Williams wearing Louis Vuitton ]
She's always one of my favorites.
Red suites her so well and I adore her chicness.

[ Cameron Díaz wearing Gucci ]
I actually think there's nothing special about this one, but ladies and gentlemen...
SHE OWNED THAT DRESS.  Confidence is what she transmits.

[ Louise Roe wearing Black Halo ]
I haven't seen many reviews for this look and that's such a shame.
This girl managed the vintage look so perfectly.

[ Gwyneth Paltrow wearing Tom Ford ]
This is what I call a piece of art.  She looks clean and classy.

[ Milla Jovovich wearing Elie Saab ]
Stunning.  I mean, come on it's Elie's piece!
The red lips complimented the look so well.

[ Octavia Spencer wearing Tadashi Shoji ]
She knows what goes with her body-type and  this was the right choice.

[ Emma Stone wearing Giambattista Valli ]
I have a love/hate relationship with this dress.
I don't like the giant bow, but the look itself is so memorable.

Grammy Awards 2012: Extremes

Why Extremes?  Because the outfits were either way too much extravagant or very very simple.  Last Sunday I rushed into my house, after having a Valentine's date with my boy, to see the Grammy Red Carpet at E!  I was in total shock after seeing some of the awful outfits from many stars... so daring and even strange.  On the other side, I saw many stars with classic/simple outfits, and of course they were the ones that I liked.  90% of the dresses I liked were black pieces with metallic accessories...

My favorites:
#1: Carrie Underwood - Girly/gorgeous/playful back

#2: Bruno Mars - Vintagely cute

#3: Rihanna - Perfection with pink lips

#4: Julianne Hough - Sexy dress to accent her figure

#5: Adam Levine - Elegance all the way

#6: Alicia Keys - What can go wrong with a little black dress and a trendy necklace?

#7: Adele - Appropriate and beautiful sparkly dress

SAG Awards 2012: Colors, Lace, Legs and Pants

I couldn't watch the SAG Awards last Sunday, but next day I was goggling the red carpet photos at 8:00 a.m.  I have to say that some of the actresses amazed me even more than my favorite ones from the Golden Globe Awards.  I saw a great variety of colors, shapes and even a daring look with pants, instead of the typical dress.  I love when celebrities take some risk and love it even more when it has great results.  The main risk of the night was Rose Byrn, who wore a beautiful white jumpsuit with the right hair to look perfectly classy.  As always, I'm sharing my favorites in order of preference...
Here we go!

#1: Rose Byrne wearing the daring piece of the night
from one of my favorite designers: Elie Saab

#2: Michelle Williams did a better job this time wearing Valentino
with beautiful lace sleeves detail!

#3: Emily Blunt looks stunning in a green-one-shoulder
piece by Oscar de la Renta

#4: Leah Michelle showed her sexy legs while looking chic wearing Versace

#5: Natalie Portman also did a better job than her last appereance
with this cute maroon dress from Giambattista Valli

Golden Globe Awards 2012: Neutral Extravaganza

Last Sunday we saw all kind of dress colors, but especially nude neutrals in the 2012 Golden Globes Red Carpet.  Now that I think about it, I was in from of the T.V. from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. watching E! for the red carpet and from 9:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. watching NBC for the gala.  Five hours watching Dior, Dolce & Gabana, Christian Louboutin, Versace, Gucci, Prada and eating munchies with pink-lime juice with my mom: TOTALLY WORTH IT!

The most significant trends were strapless, neutrals and fish tails.  Today I'm sharing my favorite dresses in order of preference. I'm starting with Charlize Theron, who wore a very provocative, but elegant piece from: Dior, of course.
 #1: Charlize Theron wearing Dior

#2: Claire Danes wearing J. Mendel
Bringing edgy/sexy back!

#3: Reese Witherspoon wearing Zac Posen
Beachy/young-ish/intense.

#4: Jessica Biel wearing Elie Saab
Lace bridal inspired.

 #5: Jessica Alba wearing Gucci
Conservative, classic.

 #6: Emma Stone wearing Lanvin
Different, outstanding.

#7: Kate Beckinsale wearing Roberto Cavalli
She just knew how to work that simple dress.

Versace for H&M Red Carpet: Black & White

The new line for H&M was presented last week at New York City with celebrities like Blake Lively, Jessica Alba, Jennifer Hudson, Selma Blair and Uma Thurman.  Guess who is the designer of the new line?  Donatella Versace!  I used to hate the fact that we don't have an H&M at Puerto Rico, but now I hate it even more.

The predominant trends in the red(black) carpet were tights and black shoes [which is totally my style].  I'm showing my top 3 favorite outfits of the night...

[ #1: Blake Lively
I call this per-fec-tion.
The blazer is the key-piece to the elegant touch in her look.

 [ #2: Jessica Alba ]
 Sophisticated and chic.
Trendy with the sequins and also a vintage vibe in her hair, lips and shoes.

 [ #3: Jennifer Hudson ]
Playful rocker.
The dress is girly, but the booties say: rock&roll!

Who was your favorite?
xx

BAFTA Brits 2011: White It Is!

Last Saturday was celebrated the Bafta Brits To Watch Gala in Los Angeles, California.  A lot of celebrities caught my eyes when I saw the pictures from the best dressed.  What really surprised me was the amount of white tone dresses I've seen recently in a lot of ceremonies like the MET Ball, MTV Movie Awards and now the BAFTA Brits

We all know summer is here and the best color to match the sun-kissed skin is... white!  I'm showing my favorites on this post and, at least these ones, knew how to make white work on them without losing their personal style.

 Blake Lively - Sublime

 Zooey Deschanel - Vintage

 Kate Middleton - Elegant
